Avesgaud (955–1035) was a French nobleman, and Bishop of Le Mans. He was from the house of Bellême, a son of Yves I de Bellême. His life is said to have been passed hunting, building and quarrelling (with Count Herbert Wake-Dog)[1].
He founded the town of La Ferté-Bernard around the year 1000[2]. He was succeeded as bishop by his nephew Gervais de Bellême.
